They have better fitting lens covers, a slightly wider field of view, and more ergonomic rubber armoring that resists stress and gives a more secure grip. They now weigh an ounce more as a result of these modifications, but the increased protection is definitely worth it. With 18.4mm of eye relief, the M5 10x42 has exceptional performance for this kind of binocular. At 1000 yards, the field of view is 293' and the close focus is 8.2', an improvement of 5 feet. They withstand fogging and are waterproof for ten minutes down to 3.3 feet.
